REVIEW: HIStory 3 Trapped

Those who are not familiar with the HIStory series, it is a Taiwanese series that have a selection of new actors for each story. Trapped is a 2019 BL series from Taiwan and is the sixth instalment of the highly popular HIStory franchise. Trapped is different from the previous stories with perhaps a cliched story of a mob boss and a police detective but it's one you can't help but be intrigued by.

Having watched the previous series 'Crossing The Line' and with that becoming a fast favourite, I decided to watch Trapped without many high expectations. After checking out the trailer, it was obvious this story was going to be different from the previous ones and that's what piqued my interest even more.  History3: Trapped has all the fan-favourite tropes i.e. a mob boss falling in love with a police officer and vice versa, enemies to lovers, a little bit of angst with a happy ending, hurt/comfort, etc. I loved the show for all the romance, for lovable characters, for couples actually communicating properly with one another rather than let it stew and misunderstand each other for a gazillion episodes, and most importantly, a healthy portrayal of gay relationships. No jokes, no punchlines, just plain, simple love. The series is just simply heartwarming and impossible not to fall in love with the characters.

Things I Learnt In My First Year Of University

With my first year nearly finished with 1 more assignment to go, I thought it would be the perfect time to reflect on how it went. I can't believe I'm a quarter way through my undergrad degree. I arrived at my university halls, September last year with no idea what to expect but ready to take on my new found independence. First year is a roller coaster ride filled with different emotions, experiences, and responsibilities.

REVIEW: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

After watching the film and then reading the book in a space of a week - in that order. I decided to write a review, talking about both the book and film adaptation. Although I'm currently at university studying Creative Writing and Journalism, I'm very bad at sitting down and actually read a book. On with the review... I think my heart just melted and made a puddle at my feet. Sigh!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is set in post World War II era. Follows London based writer Juliet Ashton who wants to break free from the pen name Izzy Bickerstaff, seizes an opportunity to go Guernsey when she receives a letter from a resident Dawsey Adams and member of the island’s Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society who comes across a book that once belonged to her.

Empowering Quotes To Get You Through The Week

I love quotes that empower us, words are powerful and there is nothing more wonderful than having a quote that just speaks many volumes. Sometimes we all need a pick me up or a quote that gives us that motivation, or when we're feeling lost or stuck in life, it helps to read the comforting words of someone a little wiser than me. They reassure me about the direction I’m going in life and help me realise that everything isn’t as bad as it may seem. We all need some motivation, inspiration, and drive and sometimes something so simple like quotes can do just that.

Feel Good Films For When You're Feeling Down

I love cheesy, romantic, drama, comedy films to give me a much needed pick me up and when the world seems like a grim old place. Watching a happy movie is the perfect remedy for when I’m feeling down. They lift me up. They help me forget my anxieties and worries and they put a smile on my face. If you're looking for something to warm your heart, make you laugh, or reduce you to tears. I love chick flicks, romantic dramas simply because it has romance - its safe to say that yes i'm a hopeless romantic, i love love.

Lessons Queer Eye’s Fab 5 Taught Us.

Pretty much everyone watches Queer Eye or unless you've been living under a rock, then go and binge it now! Queer Eye is not your conventional makeover show on Netflix, it's jam-packed, an emotional roller coaster and brimmed with advice every episode from the FAB 5: Tan (fashion), Kamaro (culture), Jonathan (grooming), Antoni (food) and Bobby (interior design). This show is less about changing who you are and more about nurturing what you already have.

REVIEW: Aladdin The Musical

So the January sales consisted of me finally purchasing tickets to see this spectacular musical with my not so Disney enthusiastic or a fan of the film sister. I managed to get tickets fairly close to the stage and what a delight that was! Imagine a musical with loads of colour, sparkles, and fun. Then add some Disney songs. It’s basically a musical that’s been created for any Disney lover, surely?
Everyone knows the story of Aladdin but those who don't: Aladdin follows the titular character's journey from rags to riches as he finds love in the Princess named Jasmine, all while working off of three wishes he's been given by the Genie. The Evil Jafar is there to stop Aladdin from succeeding, but who wins at the end of the day?
