Zoella - Girl Online + Girl Online: On Tour ♡

I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas filled with love and gratitude, I'd like to apologise for my absence, during the festivities i wanted a little blog break but hey I'm here and ready to blog!
Today's post is going to be dedicated to my favourite my favourite girl Zoella and her awesome books - Zoe is an inspiration to many people including me. For those who may not have heard of Zoe Sugg (where have you been!?) Zoe is otherwise known as ‘Zoella’ the vlogger and blogger who has taken the YouTube/Blogging world by a storm. She also has a beauty line under Superdrug, which have the cutest perfumes, bath and smelly stuff (the nice smelling stuff) Most people know her as being the extremely talented, beautiful girl with the ombre hair with the cool videos and a cute pug called Nala.

One of my presents from my mum was Zoe Sugg's Girl Online: On Tour book - the sequel to Girl Online. It's no secret how much i love YouTubers and my admiration for Zoe who is just adorable. I know some people are still moaning about Zoe's ghost writing scandal and newsflash: she's not the first person to have help with a book. look at Katie Price. I love everything both books capture: anxiety and other issues & pressures every young person  nowadays would relate too – such as cyber-bullying, an online presence conflicting with the real self, issues with sexuality and then ‘coming-out’, the loss of friendships, mental illnesses and first loves (which sadly i haven't experienced yet)

Girl Online is about a girl named Penny under the alias Girl Online who blogs about her hidden feelings and personal experiences with friendship, boys, school drama, family issues and her recent panic attacks that are slowly beginning to take over her life. And when things go from bad to worse, her family decide to take her away to New York for a break away from normality. Whilst there she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. And suddenly, Penny is falling in love. And, of course, capturing every moment of it on her blog. But Noah has a secret of his own too.

This novel is a pretty heart-warming tale of young love which being a soppy romantic that i am, i love Girl Online and Girl Online: On Tour delivers just as much as the first book, learning more about the characters and discovering more about the loveable Penny.
The physical and mental effects of going through a panic attack was well-documented, and Penny does go through the same worry about having them as millions of people around the globe have, whilst dealing with them. And also, a little side-note, Noah gives Penny a coping strategy to dealing with panic attacks

I was impressed by the theme through the book of Penny work out what she wants to do in her life and find herself. This was comforting and relatable to not only me but many other people unsure what they want to do when they get older. There are so many characters i loved from the first book: Penny, Elliot, Sadie Lee and Noah (lets face it, Penny and Noah are OTP worthy) In the second book we are introduced to new set characters who I've grown to love such as Leah, Alex and Larry

When Noah invites Penny on his European music tour, she can't wait to spend time with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend.
But, between Noah's jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming band mates and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she's really cut out for life on tour. She can't help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot . . . and her blog, Girl Online.
Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer?

I did find myself wanting a boy like Noah in my life, and definitely wanting a friend like Elliot – who is Penny’s best friend and overall rock of support. I thought that Zoe did also bring the romance to life. She made the feelings very real, and made you, as the reader be immersed into the emotions that Penny was feeling. Both books have a Zoe-esque vibe. You felt excited about what Penny did, or sad or worried whenever she felt that. I think you grow with Penny and gain some interesting lessons from both books: "Sometimes the hero of the fairytale isn’t the handsome prince. Sometimes it’s you."

I could relate to Penny. Just like her I don’t like being surrounded by many people, being in big crowds scare me. I do have panic attacks myself once in a while, especially when I am in a place which is crowded by so many people that you can’t even turn around and that is exactly the reason why I prefer to stay home and read a book/blog or watch a film instead of going out and making myself feel uncomfortable.
Penny’s character is nice, lovable and relatable for teenage girls I think. I really enjoyed accompanying her throughout the whole book, watching her grow and by the time the 2nd book ended, she was more of a young adult than a teenager. I was so happy and proud when she realised that she has her own life and that she needed to live it the way she wants to. She became confident and happy, she defended herself when others belittled her, Penny’s reaction to all of it seemed also pretty realistic, I mean anyone would probably have a hard time coping with this kind of life, especially someone with anxiety.
What I also liked was that we get to know more about Elliot and his life, especially his love life. Oh my gosh he and Alex are definitely OTP material. He is such an adorable character and reminded me of Kurt from Glee.
Noah is another character i liked, he's so sweet (the perfect boyfriend)  and sometimes an idiot, i guess that's what it’s like to be a rockstar, be on tour with a band and such and I can imagine that it might be just as stressful as exciting but concerning that Noah was the one who wanted Penny to join him on his tour in the first place I thought it was so mean that he was actually the reason why she wasn’t able to enjoy herself and her life on tour with him. I’m glad that he tried to make up for it. That just showed how deeply he cares about her and how much he really loves her and how important their relationship is to him but after that one incident....

I would definitely like to see a 3rd book mainly because i love the characters and the stories. The whole book series is so good and well written, the perfect book for teenagers (and young adults) or anyone who loves a cute love story and wonderful character development - if you like that sort of thing, then the Girl Online book series is perfect for you.
I NEED A THIRD BOOK and if I'm being honest both books with inspire your blogging journey or at least help.
