Zoella - Girl Online + Girl Online: On Tour ♡

I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas filled with love and gratitude, I'd like to apologise for my absence, during the festivities i wanted a little blog break but hey I'm here and ready to blog!
Today's post is going to be dedicated to my favourite my favourite girl Zoella and her awesome books - Zoe is an inspiration to many people including me. For those who may not have heard of Zoe Sugg (where have you been!?) Zoe is otherwise known as ‘Zoella’ the vlogger and blogger who has taken the YouTube/Blogging world by a storm. She also has a beauty line under Superdrug, which have the cutest perfumes, bath and smelly stuff (the nice smelling stuff) Most people know her as being the extremely talented, beautiful girl with the ombre hair with the cool videos and a cute pug called Nala.

One of my presents from my mum was Zoe Sugg's Girl Online: On Tour book - the sequel to Girl Online. It's no secret how much i love YouTubers and my admiration for Zoe who is just adorable. I know some people are still moaning about Zoe's ghost writing scandal and newsflash: she's not the first person to have help with a book. look at Katie Price. I love everything both books capture: anxiety and other issues & pressures every young person  nowadays would relate too – such as cyber-bullying, an online presence conflicting with the real self, issues with sexuality and then ‘coming-out’, the loss of friendships, mental illnesses and first loves (which sadly i haven't experienced yet)

Girl Online is about a girl named Penny under the alias Girl Online who blogs about her hidden feelings and personal experiences with friendship, boys, school drama, family issues and her recent panic attacks that are slowly beginning to take over her life. And when things go from bad to worse, her family decide to take her away to New York for a break away from normality. Whilst there she meets the gorgeous, guitar-strumming Noah. And suddenly, Penny is falling in love. And, of course, capturing every moment of it on her blog. But Noah has a secret of his own too.

This novel is a pretty heart-warming tale of young love which being a soppy romantic that i am, i love Girl Online and Girl Online: On Tour delivers just as much as the first book, learning more about the characters and discovering more about the loveable Penny.
The physical and mental effects of going through a panic attack was well-documented, and Penny does go through the same worry about having them as millions of people around the globe have, whilst dealing with them. And also, a little side-note, Noah gives Penny a coping strategy to dealing with panic attacks

I was impressed by the theme through the book of Penny work out what she wants to do in her life and find herself. This was comforting and relatable to not only me but many other people unsure what they want to do when they get older. There are so many characters i loved from the first book: Penny, Elliot, Sadie Lee and Noah (lets face it, Penny and Noah are OTP worthy) In the second book we are introduced to new set characters who I've grown to love such as Leah, Alex and Larry

When Noah invites Penny on his European music tour, she can't wait to spend time with her rock-god-tastic boyfriend.
But, between Noah's jam-packed schedule, less-than-welcoming band mates and threatening messages from jealous fans, Penny wonders whether she's really cut out for life on tour. She can't help but miss her family, her best friend Elliot . . . and her blog, Girl Online.
Can Penny learn to balance life and love on the road, or will she lose everything in pursuit of the perfect summer?

I did find myself wanting a boy like Noah in my life, and definitely wanting a friend like Elliot – who is Penny’s best friend and overall rock of support. I thought that Zoe did also bring the romance to life. She made the feelings very real, and made you, as the reader be immersed into the emotions that Penny was feeling. Both books have a Zoe-esque vibe. You felt excited about what Penny did, or sad or worried whenever she felt that. I think you grow with Penny and gain some interesting lessons from both books: "Sometimes the hero of the fairytale isn’t the handsome prince. Sometimes it’s you."

I could relate to Penny. Just like her I don’t like being surrounded by many people, being in big crowds scare me. I do have panic attacks myself once in a while, especially when I am in a place which is crowded by so many people that you can’t even turn around and that is exactly the reason why I prefer to stay home and read a book/blog or watch a film instead of going out and making myself feel uncomfortable.
Penny’s character is nice, lovable and relatable for teenage girls I think. I really enjoyed accompanying her throughout the whole book, watching her grow and by the time the 2nd book ended, she was more of a young adult than a teenager. I was so happy and proud when she realised that she has her own life and that she needed to live it the way she wants to. She became confident and happy, she defended herself when others belittled her, Penny’s reaction to all of it seemed also pretty realistic, I mean anyone would probably have a hard time coping with this kind of life, especially someone with anxiety.

What I also liked was that we get to know more about Elliot and his life, especially his love life. Oh my gosh he and Alex are definitely OTP material. He is such an adorable character and reminded me of Kurt from Glee.
Noah is another character i liked, he's so sweet (the perfect boyfriend)  and sometimes an idiot, i guess that's what it’s like to be a rockstar, be on tour with a band and such and I can imagine that it might be just as stressful as exciting but concerning that Noah was the one who wanted Penny to join him on his tour in the first place I thought it was so mean that he was actually the reason why she wasn’t able to enjoy herself and her life on tour with him. I’m glad that he tried to make up for it. That just showed how deeply he cares about her and how much he really loves her and how important their relationship is to him but after that one incident....

I would definitely like to see a 3rd book mainly because i love the characters and the stories. The whole book series is so good and well written, the perfect book for teenagers (and young adults) or anyone who loves a cute love story and wonderful character development - if you like that sort of thing, then the Girl Online book series is perfect for you.
I NEED A THIRD BOOK and if I'm being honest both books with inspire your blogging journey or at least help.

Always Be A Work In Progress

 :
This post is inspired by a recent video from hellokaty, this video has pretty much  said how i've been feeling in different circumstances but a little similar too. Growing up i thought i would have my life together by the time i'm 20 years old and the truth is i don't. I'm still figuring out the things that make me happy, my dream career and how i want my life to be .
Society & Everyone else expect you to have your life together and you worry what the world thinks of you - your not pretty enough, not smart enough.. everything becomes too much that the cracks become bigger and wider. you start screaming as loud as possible but no one hears you. At 13-14 thinking you will have your life together, not worries in the world, looking forward to planning your dream career etc and now at 20 years old, i wish i was that innocent young, struggling to fit in the world and now i couldn't be more confused

I've been pretty hard on myself, i thought i was hiding it pretty well, i've been feeling overwhelmed that i need to be more productive, i need to do this & that - i never feel like i'm doing enough to better myself and my future. I don't understand why i feel like i do, the need to be better, to be smarter, to be prettier and it's kinda society's fault as cliche it sounds. we always blame ourselves and sometimes it's easier to blame society. Society has been like this invisible beast that overshadows you and to turn you even more insane.
As we're growing up we get told/or taught that we're suppose to have something on the agenda, my feet are moving but i'm not going anywhere and i don't know what i'm doing, i don't know what i want to do. I know i want to be happy, to be doing something i love whatever that maybe. But i just feel the need to have everything in line because everyone is doing something better, being better and most days i just don't care, i want to hide away until i can breath and feel better.

I need to follow my passions & interests, i need to do what i find joy in, i want to help people, i want to inspire people and yet i can't figure myself out.
Thinking about it last night, why do i need to have everything in order, everything in ticked off because it's not important to have everything in line, it will happen when it happens. Life just scares me sometimes like most days i feel like i can take on the world and the rest i feel like i'm not something to consider. Because i'm not treating myself i how i deserve to be treated, i need to love myself, trust myself, be myself including on the days i just don't want to bother yet i'm feeling the need to be better, to be what people want me to be.
I forget what it's like to be this young, to have this energy, this pressence in this world and the only i feel content with right now is my blog which is silly to be honest.
I'm always looking at people i admire like my mum, Demi Lovato and Katy Bellotte etc.. Yet i can't look at myself and feel inspired, nothing makes sense, everything is confusing. I haven't been setting goals for myself to personal achievement like being genuinely happy (which i have been till the last few weeks) when everything became too much, i lost control, i think i forgot what makes me happy, what my passions are, what makes me grateful. We don't know where we're going, where life is gonna take us.

be bold, be brave, be you {free printable}:

Sometimes we forget to do this for ourselves, living life for us. What makes us excited to wake up in the morning, what makes us tick. I want to create & inspire, i love the beauty in different things, i love pretty things, i love my dog, my family, i love disney animation, i love many different things and thats what i should focus my energy on, the things i'm interested in, the things that make me happy.
We're gonna look back at our lives when we're 80, and it's our choice to live life being happy and being completely ourselves, doing what we love or we can look back on life with regret. And i think i need to take my own advice and be my first supporter, be myself because i am enough, i am good enough and i am doing more than enough.

Depression just swallows you whole and it's hard to breath, finding the strength to take control is worthwhile, it is worth everything, we are enough as we are, we don't need to have it all together - even the best fall down sometimes.
I don't need to have everything checked, i don't need to have everything in line. I am still learning and growing, i need to learn more about me. I am still writing my story and i'm in charge of it. We expect school's teach us about life, how to survive, how to be you, how to be great etc.. We learn as we go, we learn about ourselves and thats something school's can't teach. If we don't know who we are, how are we gonna live with ourselves for however many years.

Let yourself be happy, don't put yourself through more stress and hurt, you don't deserve it. You need to remember and understand that we are all human and you are not perfect.... no one is.... there is no such thing as perfection. We need to learn how to embrace vulnerability and let people in. I'm sure there are people around us to help if we just open up to them. We should embrace our emotions, insecurities and fears, accept when we're feeling down. Pretending that we're okay when we're not, will only make things worse. Let your emotions be, it's okay. Take time for yourself and everything will fall into place, You are important and you are worthy. Exactly as you are. Don't forget to be your first supporter.
As the song the says Don't Be So Hard On Yourself

Thoughts On LGBT In Television

How the LGBT community is portrayed in the media around the world is either well written and accepting or just plain awful depending on the shows production which isn't giving guidance to those struggling with their sexual orientation. Don't get me wrong, there are stories i've come across that have been beautifully written (listed below) and i like watching them repeatedly, falling in love with stories all over again. Since i was in my teens (13 years old to be exact) i have enjoyed embracing the beauty of a same sex relationship and it always frustrated me as to why people think it's okay to be ignorant about ones sexual preference regardless of up bringing, culture - we deserve equality and love.

As the years went on i became more curious about the LGBT community and the representation in television and reality as well as discovering more beautiful same sex couples.Around the world same sex couples, people of certain sexual preferences are portrayed differently either flamboyant or eccentric - i personally like relationships begining as a friendship and then developing into a beautiful relationship no matter what sexual preference they maybe, i enjoy seeing relationships blossoming and going from strength to strength. Here are some of my favourite gay love stories from shows of different continents

Christian & Syed

Christian and Syed are a couple from a British soap Eastenders, who fell in love after growing closer and having an affair. Syed's storylines have seen him fall in love with a man ie Christian, and his eventual acceptance that he is gay. Although they don't come from the same religious backgrounds and the relationship was forbidden. Syed initially marries girlfriend Amira Shah but later comes out, and enters a relationship with Christian, despite the pressures of his family and his Muslim faith. true love prevailed and Chryed decided to leave their mistakes in The Square, married & departed, hand in hand to embark on a new life in America, off screen they returned to the UK and set up a home in Birmingham with their daughter Yasmine (whom Syed fathered) Over the years Eastenders has introduced different characters within LGBTQ community and handling it very well with issues and identification

 Kurt & Blaine

Kurt and Blaine are a young couple from the US tv show Glee, and as soon has they met the viewers got behind them wanting Kurt to finally be happy with someone as wonderful as Blaine. They met in season 2 episode 6 (Never Been Kissed) after Kurt spies on the rival show chior competion The Warblers, they immediately become friends. They begin dating in Original Song, after Blaine kisses Kurt, forming the first male-male couple on Glee. In The Purple Piano Project, Blaine transfers to McKinley to be with Kurt, telling him that he can't stand being apart from the person he loves, as the series goes on there has been a few bumps on road with them breaking up, getting back together and becoming engaged. Yet again with an extra bump in the road, you guessed it - they break up BUT before the last series is over they spontaneously get married. When Glee first began Kurt was the only character who in the LGBTQ most talked about and as the seasons went along more characters were introduced such as Trans and Questioning

Jude & Connor

Connor and Jude are a young couple from another US tv series The Fosters, they are classmates and best friends. The two met in math class and occasionally talk and hang out while in school. For most of the series, Connor is Jude's only real friend in school, something that is a concern to those around him later on in the series. The two officially form their bond as close friends when Connor defends Jude after he is bullied for wearing blue nail polish by showing up at school proudly wearing nail polish as well. Ever since this, the two maintain a steady and strong friendship. However, in season 1b, Jude begins to question if he may like Connor as more than a friend after getting jealous when Connor wants to ask out a female classmate.
Connor and Jude's relationship begins to grow from friendship to romance. It is first told that they did something "wrong" while in their tent on a school camping trip, which is at first claimed to have been a hook up with two girls. However, this is later revealed to be a lie, and what actually happened was the two boys shared a kiss themselves Their relationship faces a stump when Connor gets a girlfriend, Daria, in order to please his father. Despite smoothing things out with his dad,Connor's relationship with Daria puts a major strain on his personal relationship with Jude. although he has a girlfriend, Connor begins to flirt with Jude, such as locking pinkies with him while they are on a double date, before Jude finally demands to know where their relationship stands. Connor responds to this by kissing Jude.
Sick of his father's emotional abuse, Connor finally comes out to his dad and reveals he snuck out in order to spend time with Jude. After a brief ban from seeing each other as a result, Connor and Jude are finally reunited. In the end of the season, it is said that they are officially dating.
In season 3 they face the challenges of being a same sex couple at their young age trying to determine how public they wish for their relationship to be, However, they are publicly outed instead by Taylor and a second time by Adam, although Jude still refuses to label himself as gay nonetheless, at an LGBT dance Jude finally accepts he is gay and is able to say it - making Connor happy, sharing a dance. Connor considers moving to Los Angeles to live with his mother since his father, despite his best effort, is still clearly unaccepting of his homosexuality. While Jude is initially upset, he eventually tells him to go ahead with moving in with his mother if it means he can find the true support and happiness he needs. They promise to keep the relationship going, knowing how the distance isn't that far. Jude and Connor then profess their love for each other for the first time. The Fosters is surrounding a lesbian interracial couple and their family, the series introduces various of characters that identify with LGBTQ and i love that they talk about all kinds of issues faced in the real world within young people.

 Paulo & Miguel

Paulo & Miguel are couple from a portuguese series The Kiss Of The Scorpian or "O Beijo do Escorpião" as it is called in Portuguese. Paulo and Miguel are best friends who also happen to pilot and co-pilot private planes as their job. Paulo is gay and he is closeted to most people except for a few people, such as his sister Teresa. Despite being his best friend, Miguel has no idea Paulo is gay and that's because Miguel is a homophobe! To add more wood to the fire, Paulo's boss hates gay people and WILL fire anyone who is gay...so Paulo not only has to keep his sexuality a secret from his best friend, but also his boss and everyone that works there! A few episodes into their storyline, Paulo and Miguel get incredibly drunk. They end up at Paulo's house and fall on Paulo's couch, one thing leads to another and they end up sleeping together. Which Miguel doesn't remember & Paulo tells Miguel he slept on the couch to avoid Miguel's homophobia.
When Miguel does remember everything, he is fuming. Paulo and Miguel get into a fight and Miguel puts it upon himself to make Paulo's life a misery, Paulo reveals to Teresa that he has been in love with Miguel for years, which is also why he would not commit to his friend Leo and only fooled around with him. Miguel despises Paulo for quite a while, and becomes a very nasty character. Who is out to get Paulo and he even tries outing Paulo to his boss so he can get fired, but if he does, Paulo would do the same to Miguel because they did sleep together after all!
Thanks to Paulo's friend Marta, he does not get outed the few times Miguel tries to out Paulo to his boss. Marta acts as a beard for Paulo in times of need, which annoys Miguel, but also makes Miguel incredibly jealous too!
Near the end of the feud, Miguel does start to question his sexuality, but he doesn't understand right away because he's always been into women. But when Paulo's plane crashes, he is presumed dead, Miguel finally realizes his feelings when his hatred for Paulo turns into love. Miguel is relived to get a phone call that Paulo is fine, except for a few minor scratches.
When Miguel and Paulo meet after everyone thought Paulo was dead, they have a very cute reunion and eventually leads to something else. They tell Marta that they're together now, and Marta brings a good point. How are they going to keep working at the private jet company if they have recognized their feelings for each other, there will always be some sort of romantic lighting for the two of them. Even if they're together and Miguel has changed, their boss is still a homophobe. When they go back to their job for just a conversation with their boss about the plane crash, they decide once they leave to have some fun in a hotel. There's a very cute and flirty scenes, Their boss finds out and fires them, there and then - so now they are out of work, their dream job they have to figure out something and they both say, as long as they're together they can do anything! Miguel is still trying to figure out whats what with himself and his sexuality; he doesn't think he's gay, but he does love Paulo. Basically, Miguel's sexuality is Paulo, they decide to buy a diving store with the money they earned from working at the airline and make it their own, As the show winds down, Miguel proposes and the two eventually get married and have a cute wedding ceremony in an airport... Which became the first same sex wedding aired on Portuguese television and as far as i'm aware Miguel and Paulo were the centered LGBTQ characters and it was said from the get go, their relationship would develop romantically.

Here are my other favourite stories featuring same sex pairings and LGBT representation:
Joscha and Kai - Alles Was Zählt
Lito and Hernando - Sense 8

Kevin and Scotty - Brothers & Sisters
Lari & Elias - Salatut Elämät
Jude and Zero - Hit The Floor
I would personally like to see more LGBT representation on television, movies and many others around the world. I find it interesting with different portrayal's of same sex relationships and i hope we will see more Trans and Bisexualality explored more in various shows around the world. Because in reality, media and television, including music has a big impact on everyone, something that pushed the needle forward for LGBT visibility. Whether they depicted our lives, showed us in love (and lust), highlighted causes, or simply raised a fist in solidarity. I've noticed there's more LGBTQ representation in the UK and US, and few are changing how homosexuality, trans, bisexuality is viewed, it's opening hearts and minds. There is more of that to come in the future and the media & television are making a beautiful change in the world slowly but surely. I hope to see love and equality as the years go on because whats better than spreading love.

Here are some of favourite LGBT music video's with a powerful message: Tooji - Say YeahChristina Aguilera - BeautifulMACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS - SAME LOVE feat. MARY LAMBERTBackstreet Boys - In a World Like ThisDemi Lovato - Really Don't CareTooji - FatherJoey Graceffa - Don’t Wait, if you find any beautiful like these send them my way!

♡ Why You Should Subscribe To HelloKaty ♡

Today's post i wanted to talk about a favourite youtuber of mine; Katy Bellotte. Katy's YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram and Twitter is filled with beautiful inspiration. She always wears a smile and to be honest I'm quite envious of her beauty & creativity.
She talks to you on a very personal level, she's real - you can connect with her, like she's your best friend/confidante. That's the reason why i subscribe to her videos & follow her on twitter/instagram/tumblr.

Because she's relatable and inspiring (let's not forget how awesome her motto is: Could be jogging but I'd rather be blogging) her individuality and positivity shine through her videos
flaws n'all who doesn't sugar coat the reality of life. She is beautiful in every way as a person and with the use of her words - she connects with her viewers on a personal level: growing up, fitting in, self love etc the kinds of struggles young people deal with in their journey to adulthood.
My forever inspiring woman crush, taking into account the important feelings that for some reason most people don't like to talk about the struggles girls (& young women)
I love her talkative, fun and lifestyle based videos, she creates video's she likes to do and ones that inspire/help someone.

The first video i came across of Katy's was 'How To Be Pretty' and the title fascinated me, the video overall is inspiring and beautiful
To me, being pretty and being beautiful are different things. Everyone's desire is to be pretty, they look at themselves and wish they could be something else or look like someone else.  Beauty is what is on the outside and yet reaches all the way into the depths of the soul, just like being pretty (so screw society)
Katy's video's are something we can all learn from no matter what stage in our life we are in.

* EVERYONE is beautiful, no matter how much you criticise yourself. You're worthy and important - what you think of yourself is most important, love yourself, be kind to yourself. You are enough, you will always be enough.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL no matter what you think of your appearance, your soul is beautiful. *

if that doesn't convince you, here are 6 more reasons:

#1 she's unique
#2 uses wonderful terminology aimed at young people
#3 her video's contain inspiring messages
#4 watching her videos cheer you up in an instant
#5 she loves audrey hepburn just as much as the next girl
#6 everything she posts on either Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr is lovely & inspiring, making your day

I enjoy watching talkative, routine, Q&A, fun and inspiring videos from different YouTubers, just learning more about them as people. my favourite ones are from the lovely Katy Bellotte

I think Katy is awesome and very inspirational using what she loves to do, to send out postive and kind words to those who need something to hold on to or just some sign to show everything is going to be okay. Katy is best friend goals, just spend time blogging/vlogging and being an everyday inspiring princess.

You can follow her on Twitter & Instagram and subscribe to her YouTube Channel

TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY FALALALALA LALALALA

If you are doing blogmas this year, send me your links. I love to have a read!

The Christmas Tag

It's December 1st which means it's time to get festive!! I've seen other bloggers attempting to do Blogmas and that's what I'd like to have a go with, posting everyday till the 25th or is it till the new year? Either way it will be a task but a fun one i should think. So i thought I'd do the Christmas tag to start off blogmas.

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
ooh, there's so many that i enjoy watching during Christmas time. The Holiday, Disney Christmas Carol, Elf, Santa Claus movies and a new favourite The Christmas Secret (starring Bethany Joy Lenz)
Lately I've loved watching random Christmas movies that are on Channel 5 or Christmas 24

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Always on Christmas morning although we would get our christmassy/wintry pyjama's on Christmas Eve. We would wake up pretty early at 6am to open our presents (that's probably the only time i would wake up early)

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
one Christmas i woke my sister up to go to the bathroom and unbeknown to us, grandad was dressed up as father Christmas putting the presents out (eating the mince pies, drinking a little glass of bailey's) , me and my sister thought it was the actual Santa and we rushed back down to bed because we were so scared that if he saw us we wouldn't get any presents. Thinking back, it just makes me giggle.

4. Favourite festive food?
of course it's the mince pies and Christmas pudding, don't get me wrong i love Christmas dinner but the mince pies and pudding are the best!

5. What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
the decorations, spending time with family having a relaxing day, Christmas music/movies.  Everyone smiles a lot more and seems a lot happier and relaxed.  I love to indulge in the goodies at Christmas. I love it when the music and movie channels put on festive music and movies.

6. What is your favourite make up look for the festive season?
either I'll do my usual makeup routine and add a little christmassy colour or i go au naturale depending on how i feel. Although this year i might decide on wearing makeup, ready for pictures..

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
It's just family time, watching Christmas movies/tele, indulging in the Christmas chocolates and having a glass of wine or a bottle off cider

8. What tops your tree?
a glittery star followed by all the pretty baubles and tinsel. I love decorating the tree, it makes me feel so happy and christmassy

9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
A dog. Since i was young i always asked for a dog, i guess i loved the idea (i still do tbh) of opening a box filled with a beautiful dog(s) and crying with joy..

10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
spending time with family enjoying the Christmas atmosphere and watching the Christmas tele. Of course we have to blare out Michael Buble's Christmas album. I love entering the room and seeing the tree, thats one thing that makes me smile during christmas with the lights glistening and the presents scattered under the tree (and with any hope, a big snow fall. I love the idea of having a beautiful white christmas)

If you guys are doing blogmas this year, send me your links I'd love to read what your Christmas traditions are, why you love Christmas and many other christmassy posts.

The collage i made myself, the pictures i found are on pinterest.
